AURÉLIE ANNE
Coming from English parents originally London based, but born and raised in Hamburg, Germany I have never known where I truly belong and what should define me? I therefore chose to define myself, through photography, through writing, through understanding the complex mind I was born with and choosing to view it as my most powerful tool. I have never been interested in the pure beauty of the world, but rather the complexities, in the darker experiences of people and places, that ultimately make them beautiful. I wish to redefine the word beautiful and instead, make people question what it means to them instead of simply accepting what stands before them.
I wish to provoke emotion, through image and word. Once I have done this, then my job is done and it is left to the viewer to decide what it means to them, to feel things that they may not fully understand themselves. My images are a product of self reflection, emotional damage, reinvention, redefinition and emotion. It is through this that I wish my work to be a path, a beginning, a new journey, one for the viewer to explore and to decide how the journey continues and refuses to end.
